NEW SPROUTS
PROGRAMS & FOCUS.
Environmental Impacts
Community led farms under Hardin ng Pagbabago grow organic products using sustainable farming practices such as organic, regenerarive and permaculture. We avoid carcinogenic pesticides and fertilizers. Waste management is practiced by using compostable waste in the farms.
Scalability
The organization is working on a model to be adopted by other towns. Such legislative adoption has been demonstrated by the local government of Del Carmen. Our medium-term objective is to collaborate with the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, and the private sector.
Replicability
Hardin ng Pagbabago model has been replicated to almost all towns in Siargao. Women and youth are being engaged, mobilized and organized. We can do the same in the mainland and throughout the country, one town at a time.
Resilience and Adaptability
The community farms of Hardin ng Pagbabago have shown resilience to external shocks and challenges - typhoons, the pandemic, the lack of access to freshwater and electricity and climate change. The members have adapted crops and plant types to their environment and maintenance capacity, and have proven they are capable to recover from floods.
